PORTH PLAZA - WHY THE DELAY? Summer 2006

Everyone has been asking the same question: why has the council been so long in bringing the superb Porth Plaza building into use?

When the previous Plaid Cymru-run council commissioned this fine building it was planned to include media training in a cyber cafe, small business incubator units and a creche. We understand there have been no major changes to that plan and that delays were caused by the Labour Assembly Government cutting funding to the Genesis Project, the failings of ELWa and then RCT Council diverting funds to other areas.

Porth Plaid Councillor Julie Williams, has been pressing the council to get on with the job and provide these services. Now at least, some tenants are moving in, but only after Labour's inexcusable delays.
