COUNCIL FAIL FIRST WINTER TEST Winter 2005

At the first sign of the winter's snow - clearly forecast - our council failed to get the gritters out and brought chaos to our streets. All the weather forecasts were predicting snow and freezing conditions for the night of Thursday 24th November.

A Council spokesman said, "Our forecasters didn't predict snow and we didn't get it wrong." What forecasters are they using? Is a clerk with a piece of seaweed?

A spokesman for Shamrock Coaches said, "It would have been foolish to risk children's lives by taking school buses out in such treacherous conditions where no gritting had been done. The local Plaid Cymru activist Terry O'Neill said, "This New Labour Council is cutting corners with peoples safety while squandering our council taxes on lavish trips and so called 'expenses' and it must stop."
